Panic attacks often start during or after an emotionally charged event. They can also be triggered by excessive drinking, taking of drugs or a lack of sleep. They start out as fear and / or anxiety and escalate to include significant physical symptoms.

SYMPTOMS OF PANIC ATTACKS AND WHAT YOU CAN DO ABOUT IT

During a panic attack you get a rush of intense mental and physical symptoms. It can come on very quickly and for no apparent reason.

A panic attack can be very frightening and distressing.

Symptoms include:

  • a racing heartbeat

  • feeling faint

  • sweating

  • nausea

  • chest pain

  • shortness of breath

  • trembling

  • hot flushes

  • chills

  • shaky limbs

  • a choking sensation

  • dizziness

  • numbness or pins and needles

  • dry mouth

  • a need to go to the toilet

  • ringing in your ears

  • a feeling of dread or a fear of dying

  • a churning stomach

  • a tingling in your fingers

  • feeling like you're not connected to your body

Most panic attacks last between 5 and 20 minutes. Some have been reported to last up to an hour.

It is possible for you to overcome this problem and be calmer and more in control.

After booking your appointment, we’ll start the work before your session even starts by completing some pre-session work to give us a history of your panic attacks, including times and places where you have panicked.

This will help us start to understand your situation and tailor the session to your specific needs.

Throughout the session you will be relaxed, comfortable and safe.

We’ll look at the times that you identified that you panicked in the past and we’ll gently guide you through our powerful techniques to enable you to remove any fear from its very roots.

Our aim is to restore you to the way you were before the panic attacks started and we’ll give you techniques that you can use, any time, to make sure you remain calm and in control. *
