Compassion

Can you find compassion?

As the lockdown in the UK starts to ease I sense heightened fear and anger, and a disquiet that things are not as clear as they could or should be.

Do you know how we're wired to make decision? We make our decision first based upon emotions and then look for evidence to support our viewpoint.

I honestly believe that we're all trying to do the best we can. Maybe my way is not your way or your way is not my way. That doesn’t mean that either are actually wrong (assuming all within current law / COVID-19 guidelines). I'm choosing to still stay at home except for fortnightly grocery shopping and going our for a bike ride once a day.

I’m a swimmer and I'm choosing not to swim even though the government has given the green light for open water swimming. Even though with my experience I am low risk, I still see a risk. More than that, I don't want to encourage someone without my experience to follow suit. That's my choice. Your choice may be different. Both are within guidelines.

In a world where it is so easy to judge, let's first try to apply understanding and compassion.

I came across this article that I thought was a very interesting read - I’d be interested in your thoughts.
